5 BEING THE BEST

Great show, very acoustic, lots of guitar, lots of fast, classic LB sounding rough finger picking, lots of just LB playing/singing alone out front. Steel string and nylon acoustics, plus the standard two octave hollow electric he uses all the time. Band was very much in the background, it was all about him which was great. Moved right along, short versions of many of the older songs. Many off the new CD. Played for about 1.5 hours maybe 1.75 hours. No super long versions or long speeches just a very nice show with lots of songs, good variety, nice pace. I'm So Afraid was the loudest most electric hardest song with a great guitar solo by LB. He looks great, in shape, plays guitar beautifully still. Sings great, excellent sound quality/mixing/effects. Voice was mixed beautifully. Lots of echo. Band was tight, clean, totally on top of what they were doing. LB switched guitar with every song, had about 6-7 he used, great support staff helping with all of this, setting pedals etc. Cord came loose once during a song and made a horrible noise which LB fixed promptly. One musician was playing keyboards, bass, and guitars, very talented man. Great percussionist as well. LB is still totally in control and 100% on top of his game. Different sound than FM. See him while you have the chance even if you have seen FM before, it is a very different experience. New CD is great as well.

I thought this concert was absolutely amazing. I am only 22 years old, so me and my buddy were definitely on the younger side of the crowd. I saw the Mac come thru back in '03 on their Say You Will tour and was blown away by Lindsey. The guy is a guitar god. So the minute I heard he was coming around on a solo tour, I knew this concert was going to be great. Unfortunately, I read the setlist before going to the concert, but that didn't really effect how I liked it! I thought Lindsey did a great job pulling off his new songs and they fit in the setlist quite nicely.

For a good number of the songs he performed, his mic had an echo effect, in which to layer his voice (like how he sounds on his new solo album). The highlight of the night for me was Big Love. He did it was so much intensity and the crowd gave its biggest round of applause after this one. I liked how he performed a number of Mac classics like World Turning and I Know I'm Not Wrong. World Turning was a bit different in the way it's usually performed because Lindsey used an acoustic this time. Taku's Mick Fleetwood like bongo intersession was pretty cool too.

Go Your Own Way was the end to the set, before the encore. Everybody was so pumped and they all knew they were going to come back out for an encore. During random parts of the show, people were yelling out requests for him to do during the encore. In the earlier portion of the show, Lindsey acknowledged someone yelling out Save Me A Place, and said that they'd probably take requests later on. In the encore, they played Save Me A Place, Holiday Road, Show You How (a new one) and Down on Rodeo. I thought bringing in Holiday Road was ingenius. I basically had forgotten that Lindsey did this tune for the Chevy Chase movies and they pulled it off really well. It really got the crowd into it. Lindsey finished it off by taking the request Down on Rodeo and he played it alone on stage, like he did for so many other great numbers.

Lindsey seemed in really good spirits throughout the show and one funny thing that happend was his reaction to the crowd when someone yelled out "we love Eric Clapton". He started laughing and telling the people that they were at the wrong show! He did a few dialogues between numbers explaining where he is in life and how great everything is going for him and his new family. This was an incredible show and I really hope that he comes back thru Boston soon, whether it be solo or with Fleetwood Mac.
