5 BEING THE BEST
Rated "3.9" by Robert Shook
Unfortunately this show was plagued by horrible and thoughtless audience members. No one sat still. People constantly got up to leave and come back through every song. It happened less during the Fleetwood Mac numbers, but bad just the same. During the non-Mac tunes, people talked loudly to each other as if they were bored and didn't know he also had a few solo albums out there. The worst of it though were the people who shouted moronic things during his performance- especially during the quiet performances. Seems like everyone wants to hear themselves. I'm sure that when Lindsey was speaking the poetry that has serves as an intro to one of his solo songs, that he really appreciated hearing an audience member yell out "KICK ASS LINDSEY". I know I did. People yelling obscenities while he was playing his quieter numbers, yelling out things like "Where's Stevie?!" really got old. I was completely embarrassed for the city of Seattle. Unfortunately it was like this the last
time he came to town when Out of the Cradle was released. This time, however, the band was not as loud (more acoustic-oriented) and therefore the cat calls and shout-outs from ignorant and thoughtless onlookers could be heard more clearly.
My review of the concert?
Well, unfortunately when I think of it I remember the audience more then I do the show. Being that as it may however, I thought most of it was excellent. Lindsey broke a string on the opening number, but pulled through like a champ, and he seemed to be in great spirits throughout the entire show. I did think he performed too many Mac songs. Those slots could have been filled by his more interesting (and less heard) solo work. The big surprise for me was hearing Save Me A Place. A beautiful song that most people don't know, evident by many an audience member turning to jabber to their neighbor during this song, rather than listening to it.
