1-5
5 BEING THE BEST
Rated "5" by Pete Pantelis
When I bought my tickets for this show I knew that we'd be sitting in a 2
seater - no one on either side - but I had no idea that we'd be sitting RIGHT
next to the soundboard!
Anyone who has ever sat near the sound guy knows that the sound is always best
there. As a bonus, a copy of the set list sat right on top of the board so all
we had to do was look over!!
Part way through the show Lindsey commented that he and the band prefer to play
smaller venues like this one (approx 500 seater) and that "this is the way music
really should be heard."
I thought Lindsey was in excellent form on the guitar. He started off vocally
just a tad off key a few times, but got really solid as the show went on. He and
the band seemed much more relaxed here as opposed to the Foxwood's show last
October which was more stiff, with both Lindsey and the band making mistakes. He
seemed to stretch out on most of his electric leads - at one point in So Afraid
he hit an extremely high F and rocked on it so long that he almost got a
standing O.
Early during the 3 song encore I made my way down to the front of the stage -
just a few feet away from him. Up close he looks almost scary skinny - like not
healthy skinny, and he is showing a little of his 57 years. But of course, looks
are deceiving and in Lindsey's case his stamina on vocals and guitar is truly
impressive.
According to the soundguy's set list, Bleed was listed as the last encore song,
but Lindsey did Shut Us Down solo as the last song.
I got to talk with the sound guy briefly after the show and he said that Lindsey
was one of the best people he's ever worked with. He really cares about the
show, is involved in all aspects and that he never stops working.
They're next onto Philadelphia.
