5 BEING THE BEST

It was my 50th birthday and as a treat I bought great tickets for my kids and myself. They grew up listening to Stevie Nicks and Don Henley, and used to tease me about it. It was great to hear them singing along during the concert.

Other than the unexpected cold, I thought that the concert was great. Stevie loves her fans and it shows. Don Henley was reserved, but she used her "sweet ways" to bring him out of his "shell". They enjoyed themselves and it was great to be part of the experience.

A great time was had by all.

Show was good. They did not do Desperado nor did Stevie do Landslide. I was a little disappointed in that.

I got there late.....damn bridge traffic and the guys behind me were convinced that after Stevie left from Don's duets that she was gone forever. "She's done." "She ain't coming back." "She's got that throat thing....that laryngitis (with the itis part pronounced it us)" "She gets sick alot". This went on for about 20 minutes even after I assured them she was in fact returning.

Then when she came out they were psyched, and when Don and she slow danced they decided "their romance" was ok, since "she needs some lovin" "He seems like a nice enough guy."

The girls next to me thought that Rhiannon was "Never Break the Chain".

Did anyone catch her saying to Don "thanks for the pre-show"? This was after their duets....did I imagine that? I also thought it odd for her to just blurt out "Mick", it kind of skeeves me out. I also wish that the video for this song was only on the center screen, I would have liked to see her up close, since I was in the second level of seats.

So many people left early......maybe they couldn't take the cold but hey I had shorts on and was freezing my butt off but I refuse to leave until they exit the stage.

Here are a few Fantabulous Fleetnotes last night's show:

*Mick Fleetwood and Billy Joel are a couple -- or at least they were last night. Mr. Tusk and Mr. Piano Man were hanging out together all night watching Stevie's show from the soundboard area. They were mingling with fans a bit and having a good old time.

*Juliana Ray (the warm-up chick) was sitting behind me and is really a vibrant, lovely person. She really got into the show. She grew up in Freeport (only ten minutes away) and really had a blast playing what was a local gig for her.

*They did play SYWBARnRS last night and it went over very well.

*Security was awesome.I don't think there was a person who tried to move up that couldn't. These guys were such sweethearts. I was in the front row by like the second song of Henley's set (started in the 7th row). PNC needs to get a grip.

*As Stevie was standing behind Don at the beginning of HC, the guy next to me said and I quote "I know that's Henley but who's that girl standing behind him" Oy! I thought he was kidding but he wasn't. There seems to be one of him at every show -- or is it me? The guy was drinking this large cup of coffee from 7-11 the whole show and I spilled it on him twice becase I was dancing like crazy. He was nice and all but where the hell do they find these people -- and how do they end up in the first three rows?

*At the Beginning of BATB, Stevie looked directly at Mick in the audience and said the word "Mick" (of course indicating to the crowd that the song was for him).

*There were these two female Henley fans sitting directly in front me. They were really sweet. Every time he would come out they'd be screaming and hollering. One of them said to me that she would do anything to be with Don Henley. I replied that I would do anything to be with Stevie Nicks. So you see, Henley and Nicks fans do have some things in common!

*Oddly there were more Eagles shirts than Stevie shirts. But as usual, in the end when it came to the applause-o-meter Stevie won hands down.

*Rhiannon was unfriggin-believable so was SDMHA. Something about these NY shows -- these artists know that big media will be there and they really seem to give it a little somethin' extra.

*Circle Dance has now grown on me to the point that it's now a fave song of mine. Last night I was with a friend whose girlfriend had recently lost her mother. There's something about that song that's so serene -- it's such loving tribute to a lost soul. Stevie really knows how to pick 'em.

*I got to talking with a bunch of fans in the parking lot before we went into the show. I introduced myself and told them I ran The Fleetwood Mac Legacy website. One guy chirped back "is that the one with the legs?" (classic!)

*I thought it was cute when Stevie introduced Jana and said that she had been part of 1/2 of 135 Fleetwood Mac shows. Apparently she has trouble with division.

It's so hard to leave this tour behind. Yep that Stevie withdrawal is setting in. And seeing Mick last night, jeez if that doesn't make you long for a Mac tour I don't know what would?

I love this lady and I love this band
