5 BEING THE BEST

Rated "5" by John Strong

The night was amazing!!! I have been to several concerts and this was by far the best.

I am only 19, and I didn't know a lot of Don Henley's songs, only the ones that comes on the radio, so the few weeks before the show, I have been listing to my parent's collection. I saw Stevie on her Enchanted and Trouble in Shangri-La Tours and 3 times for Fleetwood Mac's last tour and this was by far her best. Stevie rocked more then Guns N' Roses, Motley Crue, Poison, and Kiss. I got to the show an hour early, just as the gates were opening and headed to the merchandise both then found our seats. They were all right seats-in the middle of section 8, but when we saw the seat a pretty big woman was sitting right beside us. It would have been pretty uncomfortable sitting next to her for over 3 hours, so we when to the ticket box and luckily we were moved 10 rows ahead at the front section 8!!!! That woman was my best friend and we all laughed and joked about our good luck.

The opening act started 10 minutes before 8 and she played for 15 minutes. Don Henley took the stage at 8:20 and opened with Genie in the Bottle then Witchy Woman. Stevie joined him during the 4th song and did a great job with Hotel California, New York Minute, and The Last Worthless Evening. The crowed exploded when she came out. Not that it was a popularity contest, but the crowed seemed to be obviously pulling for Stevie. Don was a lot better then I thought he would be I am now a fan.

After a 10 minute set change Stevie finally took the stage and opened with Outside the Rain/Dreams combo. She sounded great and hit every note effortlessly. At the beginning of Dreams she did a little Hawaiian hula dance waving her arms and body. After yelling out "Welcome Pittsburgh" she quickly left the stage and the new piano player played a long intro to Rhiannon. She came back in her trade mark Rhiannon outfit and brought to house down. She did the song perfectly and by that time, my whole group looked at each other and agreed she is a whole lot better as a solo artist. I can't believe it hasn't been said on any of the reviews that after seeing Stevie solo, she seems to hold back a little for Fleetwood Mac. Probably trying not to upstage Lindsey, I am sure. She seems to have a better time by her self anyway. She was smiling the whole time. She did say on the Jim Ladd interviews before the Vegas shows that Lindsey asked her to dress more conservatively and for this tour she would be going all out. My dad even had to admit what I have always said, Stevie is a lot better then FM. She has so much charisma and stage presence, something that sets her aside from most performers. After Rhiannon she did a great performance of Enchanted (in the same Rhiannon outfit).

After that, the band played a solo before Gold Dust Woman while Stevie changed. Her and Don came out and traded lines on the song. Stop Draggin My Heart Around was next and Don took over Waddy's vocals. Next came the Bonnie Raitt song, which I didn't know. It was a beautiful song, but I would have rather heard her sing one of hers, she has so many good songs, I don't know why she decided to cover one. Next was the band intros. One thing that stood out was when she introduced her new drummer, she said jokingly "he has the best hair in the world." It was crazy, I don't know how to explain it, hopefully we will see a picture of him on one of the new websites. The audience gave Sharon, Carols, and especially Waddy loud applauses. Stevie left the stage to change again while the Stand Back Intro was playing. She came back in her trade mark Stand Back Cape and did a great job of it. She did her high kick at the very end. There was another piano intro for Beauty and the Beast and Stevie came back wearing a strange outfit with her hair pulled up. It was low cut, unfortunately we didn't get a good view because they played the silent film an all of the TV monitors. I would have like to have seem her new revealing outfit. The song was very moving and she got pretty emotional. Edge of Seventeen was next. There was a long drum solo that was like a battle of the drummers. Taku went first, then the new guy played, they switched off a few more times untill Waddy came back. He did a long guitar solo and walked right in front of the audience. Just like Lindsey did for I am so Afraid. Stevie did a great job on the song, giving a long scream in the middle. After she shook everybody's hands, she danced some more and finished the song.

For the encore, Don and Stevie came out for Leather and Lace and So You Want To Be A Rock and Roll Star. Leather and Lace was amazing, as expected and the second one was good too. Again, I would have rather heard her do something like Talk to Me or something. The whole band came down and did a final bow.

The show was amazing, the best yet!! I am going to see Stevie again in Charlotte, NC on July 9th and I can't wait. I am sure she will have more time to play a full set and squeeze some more of her songs in. Hopefully we will get to hear one of her many hit songs like Talk to Me among others.

Once again Stevie proved her self to be the Queen of Rock and Roll. I hope everybody will have as good of a time as I did, I am sure they will.

Well, this was the first concert I've ever been to. And after this show, I think I'll go to every Stevie concert I can until I'm dead.

The show began at about 8:20 after the opening act - this girl with a guitar singing songs I've never heard. And about 5 minutes after she left, the lights went down and Don appeared on the stage. Mr. Henley sang 3 songs before he went into the old Eagle's stand-by, 'Hotel California.' And who should appear on the stage during that song? If you said Stevie Nicks, you won. She sang the second verse and sang parts of the chorus - she did awesome on that song. She also sang on 'New York Minute' and 'Last Worthless Evening.' Then she left.

Don finished his set. He did quite well. After he finished his set, I noticed something - many, I repeat, MANY of the people attending the show were wearing Fleetwood Mac/ Stevie t-shirts. I saw no one wearing a Henley/ Eagles t-shirt. Says a lot, don't it?

Then Stevie came on. She went right into 'Outside the Rain.' It kind of sounded like she was singing kind of softer, but it may of just been me since I don't know the song too well. And then, without even the music stopping, she went into 'Dreams.' I swear, half of the crowd sang along on the verses, and EVERYONE sang along on the chorus. Great performance. Then, the piano entered after 'Dreams' and the dude on piano played the intro to 'Rhiannon' similar to the one on The Dance. It was an amazing performance, although the images of the unicorns and other things on the background screen was kind of cheesy. She did the version similar to the one on the Boston DVD. 'Enchanted' was next. It was great, and Jana and Sharon did wonderful on the backup vocals.

So what's next? 'Gold Dust Woman' of course. And coming out on the stage with Ms. Nicks is none other than Don. His voice fit the song pretty well, actually. Next was 'Circle Dance' and she said that she liked the song which was why she wanted to play it. Since I've never heard this song, and I'm not a big Bonnie Raitt fan, I didn't care too much for it. 'Stop Draggin My Heart Around' was next, and Don sang Tom's part. It sounded just like the record. Stevie then gave an introduction to her band [it was either after SDMHA or after Circle Dance - can't remember] (she said "Every girl needs one.") It was cool how she introduced some people; She introduced Waddy as "The love of my her] life", she introduced Sharon as "The teacher-goddess" and other funky names for some people. The people on her back-up band must love her. :)

Then came 'Stand Back.' It was just as great as it's always been. After the final "Stand Back!" Carlos came down and did a guitar solo before the real final, "Stand Back!" This song was probably the highlight of my experience. Then came 'Beauty and the Beast.' Now, don't get me wrong, this is a good song, but if they were going to play this, they should have done it before 'Stand Back.' Plus they played this black and white film on the screens. One word describes what I thought of those images: CRAP. Stevie had her hair pulled up which made her look great (but then again she always looks great). Even though this performance of this song was good (minus that crappy movie thing), I wouldn't of minded hearing 'Has Anyone Ever Written Anything...' in it's place.

We then come to a drum solo. It last about a minute and a half and Waddy comes in and starts playing the opening riff to 'Edge of Seventeen.' That guy is a killer guitarist. I'd like to see what would happen if he and Lindsey had a jam session together. :D The version was very similar to that on the Storytellers episode. It went over very well, though. That song never sounds bad live. During the guitar solo, Stevie walked out and shook hands w/ fans (I wasn't one) and I noticed she had this guy behind her like watching her when she bent down. I think Stevie can bend down fine on her own, but I could be wrong.

She left and came out for the encore. Don and her sang together on 'Leather and Lace' IT WAS JUST LIKE THE ALBUM AND IT WAS AMAZING!!!!!!!!! I always like that song and I never thought I'd live to see the two of them play it together. The final number on this glorious evening was 'So You Want To Be A Rock and Roll Star.' It rocked out, and I was surprised that Stevie ended a show with a more 'up-beat' number instead of a sappy song (it seems to be an un-written rule that a Stevie show must end with a sappy song). They finished the song and they all took a bow.

Well, that was the best night of my life. Would of like to buy a shirt but it was 35 freakin' bucks. Oh well, there's always Ebay. If you have the opportunity to go and see these, two - DO IT! They are amazing together. The prices of tickets may be somewhat insane (IMO) but you won't regret it. Now all I have to do is wait to make myself a bootleg of this show. ;)

This was one of the best concerts I've seen. Don sang with that beautiful voice of his and when Stevie came out to join him the crowd went wild!!

She work a gauzy black top and skinny black pants with rhinestones down the side. very sexy!!! Her vocals on Hotel Clifornia and two other Don Henley songs were a real highlight. When she came out to do her set she looked and sounded better than ever. Her bands are the best. Her new drummer is especially noteworthy. Waddy was his usual great self. Her set was very much like Vegas.

Don joined her on Gold Dust Woman (very well done) and Stop Draggin My Heart Around. During Leather and Lace people with cell phones called whoever and then held them in the air. That's something new! That seemed to be the song everyone was waiting for. I loved this concert and I'm thrilled that I got to see them.

Henley was great....The Eagles were my first love and I enjoyed his set. The one problem I have with him , is that he seemed very impersonal...not alot of talking or thank you's. And I wish he would sing more with his eyes open..he always look like he is in pain or constapated...lol...

The Crowd went nuts when Stevie came out during Hotel California...to me this was the highlight of Don's set next to Life in the fast Lane and Desperado. Stevie looked awesome and I loved the pants...very cool and very nice to see her try something new.

Outside the Rain ROCKED!!! Loved the gibberish she sang at " You think baby that there anyone in the whole wide world could ever replace me" ....my tounge was wagging!!!!

Dreams...Same Old Same Old...love the song..nothing new

Gold Dust...Does anyone besides me think That Don's Part kinda messes up the whole vibe of the song?

Stop Draggin...the best version I have heard her sing in years!!! Don did a great job on Tom P's Parts...a highlight for me.

Circle Dance...Great Song...Cool Harmonies!!!

Stand Back...I Counted about 12 Twirls....Awesome..Brought the house to its feet...

Beauty and The Beast...I almost teared up....Very Stong Performance.

Edge....GREAT YELL....held the note for about 15 seconds....

Leather and Lace...VERY COOL...never saw this before live...

SYWBARARS....Didnt like it...should have been something that the crowd knew...

All and All A Wonderful show...Stevie was playful and very entertaining...Was very into it...Gave it her all. Best I have ever seen her Solo...and WITH Fleetwood....The Crowd was into it for the entire show..and It was about 75 % full...* Capasity was 23,000 ....COME BACK SOON STEVIE!!!!!

She TOTALLY rocked out, last night in Pittsburgh. Stand Back and Edge were obvious crowd high points. Stevie looked HOT throughout, but especially during BATB... I mean... how old is this woman? yowzas. The crowd was definitely a Stevie crowd, though Henley was well represented as well. You could tell a lot of people had feet in both camps.

I was on the lawn, so I didn't really have the same experience like in say.... Cleveland last year, but it was still an amazing show. Let me just say, I'm SO GLAD she decided to tour with Don Henley. I wasn't necessarily looking forward to his set, but let me tell you... I found myself leaving the parking lot singing "New York Minute." Besides its inclusion in a West Wing episode, this song is new to me and I love it! I even enjoyed his contribution to Gold Dust Woman. To me, it seems like a song he would sing.

The crowd went crazy for Hotel California, Boys of Summer and pretty much all of Stevie's songs. hehe. There seemed to be a lack of interest in Circle Dance and So You Wanna... But Circle Dance was definitely a favorite of mine last night.

Waddy was great on the intro to Edge. He really knows how to work up the crowd. And how bout that drummer? Crazy hair, indeed! Pretty much the rest of the band you know and love. They all seemed to be having a great time. She introduced Sharon as "teacher goddess." Stevie's a weirdo. hahaha. ohhhhhh, but I love her!

In summary, another amazing Stevie Nicks performance. The woman is an inspiration.
