5 BEING THE BEST
|
Rated "5" by KT aka Songbird5415 WOW! We sat on Stevie's side, she can still sing like there's no tomorrow! Lindsey can play the guitar soooooo good it gives me chills! John is such a good bass player it makes me want to pick up a bass and just TRY to be him! Mick gets so into his drumming and really makes you want to stand up and have the best time of your life! That was my first concert, and let me tell you I think I'm gonna have a hard time finding a better one! Thank you Fleetwood Mac for giving me the BEST night of my life! Rated "5" by Kat Totally awesome! We had seats on Lindsey's side. I can't say enough how truly underrated he is. "Come" and "So Afraid" left me with my jaw wide opened. I could not understand why people were getting out of their seats for beers! Stevie did not really move around much. We noticed her shoes were not the usual platform shoes, they looked like platform sneakers. I think she probably hurt her foot. That did not stop her from singing her best. I was pleasantly surprised when they did "World Turning" and "Dont Stop", since Christine co-wrote and wrote respectivly these songs. Still covered beautifully. Would love to see them again. My kids were a little disappointed that they could not go. (They are huge FM fans) Maybe if the tickets come down in price...next time they could come too. Rated "4.5" by Laura Anderson Great Show. The beginning two songs were a bit echoed and rusty, however, the rest of the show was great! It didn't even seem as if Christine McVie was missing from the show. Lindsey Buckingham carried most of the show. Stevie Nicks was strong in vocals and seemed to warm up after the first few songs. The new songs off the "Say You Will" CD were the best. I would have liked to have heard more. Mick Fleetwood was energized towards the end and jumped a bit on stage. Overall, my hat's off to the band. At their ages, they can still pull off a great show! Well Done! Bravo! Rated "4.5" by "Arizona Ranger" Even if Sunday was a damp and dreary day, Fleetwood Mac once again brightened up the day with their special magic. I'm sure Mick & John felt right at home with the wet English Style climate.... I arrived at the parking lot at 5:30 pm and met up with some very friendly people including Sherrie and her pal from Philadephia. We shared a couple of beers and she told us how great the Philly show went off. Sherrie even got to shake hands with Lindsey !!! Our entourage included Matt who brought his Mom along for her first ever FM concert ! I handed out copies of At The Shore from the AC Show and I gave everyone my impressions of the fab AC show ! At 7:00 we walked into the venue and took our respective seats in the Arena. I had floor seats and met Peter from England who brought his American family along, Mary and her partner Arlene from nearby Linden, NJ who made for good company. Peter and I spoke for a good half hour about the Moody Blues and the career of Justin Hayward. 8:30 came and Mick and John walked on stage to rousing cheers. Then Lindsey and Stevie came on and the everyone got up when The Chain started to envelope the crowd. The set list was the same as AC but little things made the show special... Stevie shared the crowd pleasing details along with Lindsey on Landslide and gave an indication of her age with her hand outstretched twice (5-5 = 55 !)After Landslide she quipped "Wow !!!! What a voice !!!" which brought applause from everyone. Lindsey also dedicated a song to his wife and daughter LeeLee who were in attendance at the show. The visual effects were pleasing and accentuated GDW, Stand Back (complete with Stevie twirls) and Silver Springs. Mick did his drum solo which always gets everyone on their feet. Once again the Classic Mac roster brought more reactions than the current SYW material. The concert ended with Go Your Own Way at 10:25 and of course the Mac HAD to do their patented encores which included Don't Stop and Goodbye Baby...Mick made his closing statement that we should all get home safe and be good to one another...Christine was missed especially during World Turning but the Band including Brett Tuggle did a fine job covering for her I bought a snazzy concert shirt from the unofficial vendors outside for $10 which was of better quality and style than the official merch. I said farewell to Sherrie and her friend as they were leaving and we all agreed that it was another great show...
But...before I left, I snuck back to the garage exit
and waited with a crowd of 10 people to hopefully snag
some photos and autographs of the band as they left.
They came out with a two car State Police Escort and
we all waved goodbye to Stevie and she gave us a
friendly wave back !!!! Thanks Stevie !!!!
Once again a GREAT show and I hope to do more FM shows
this Summer !
Rated "5" by Jason Although I have read reviews and heard comments on the lack of quality and range in Stevie's voice, I thought she sang great. I will agree that she has lost some range, as evident when she sang songs like 'Rhiannon' and 'Gypsy'. But her voice is still one of the most unique in the business, and it is still strong despite the lack of range she may have had earlier in her career, but then again, everyone gets older ya know?!?! And when she really needed it, the range was there, she hit notes dead on and strong during her performances of 'Gold Dust Woman' and 'Stand Back'. I don't think the change in her vocal range hindered the performance in any way. I was disappointed in her lack of mobility on stage. She really just swayed during the performances and didn't even really attempt to dance at all!! The only time she really moved around was during 'Stand Back' when she did her signature spin (which got the crowd going, probably because they were so excited to see she still Could! move). My girlfriend pointed out that it looked as though Stevie was moving very slowly coming and going from the stage. Maybe she has a problem with her feet or legs that we don't know about that limits her. In any case, the lack of movement on her part was a bit of a disappointment. Mick was astounding on the drums!! He has two back up drummers/percussionists, whom he actually rarely uses!!! He hasn't lost a beat and for his age can still rock with the younger drummers!! His vest malfunctioned during his drum solo, so we didn't get to experience his famed "vest solo", but to tell you the truth, I was kind of glad because I felt it would have slowed down the momentum of the show during what was going to be the final few songs of the set. It was great to see the "togetherness" and companionship of Lindsey and Stevie. At times they sang right to each other, and were quite "playful" with one another, especially during 'Landslide', 'Say Goodbye' and 'Silver Springs'. It's obvious that even despite their pasts and everything they have gone through together, they still have a deep love and admiration for one another, both personally and professionally. I won't go over the set list since it hasn't really changed at all, so no surprises there. But I will tell you what we thought were a few of the highlights of the show. 'Eyes of the World' was terrific and a nice change of pace from their usual hits package that they would normally play. 'Second Hand News' and 'Never Going Back Again' have always been a few of my personal favorites, and they were done perfectly by Lindsey. 'Big Love' was terrific as always, and I am always amazed when I see or hear the acoustic performance of it how Lindsey plays all those guitar parts by himself...as I pointed out earlier, he is truly a master at his craft!! It would have been nice though for a change from the "Dance" tour if they would have done the all out rock version of this song though. 'Beautiful Child' was very touching and somewhat "haunting". For me, it was the highlight of the show where a Stevie song was played! 'Gold Dust Woman' was also a favorite and done extremely well. Stevie's voice on this song was absolutely terrific!! 'Tusk' was also terrific!! That is one of the (strangest) and great songs in the Fleetwood Mac catalog and I was glad that they kept it in the set list. Stevie's 'Stand Back' was great!! The "alternate" beginning with the percussion was fantastic. Another song that Stevie's voice was very powerful on. I know that they have played this song in the past, I'm just not really sure why they feel the need to add any of their solo material to the show. For me, I would rather have heard another of the Mac's songs. Oh well! 'Go Your Own Way' and 'World Turning' were great rocking tunes that really got everyone's blood flowing. Great selection on the last few songs to really get the crowd pumped up!! As for the new songs...they got mixed reactions from the crowd. The songs that they may have heard on the radio like 'Say You Will' and 'Peacekeeper' got the better reactions. 'Come' was phenomenal and I think that the version of 'What's The World Coming To' that they perform is SO SO SO much better than the one on the new album!! They closed the show with 'Goodbye Baby'. It seemed the majority of the crowd was unfamiliar with the tune, but it was done so sweetly, eloquently, and personal. Most everyone who had started for the parking lot had stopped to listen when the song was being performed. A great performance by one of the greatest recording artists of all time. I hope they keep the momentum going and follow this tour up with another new recording and tour (after they all get a well deserved break, of course!!) Rated "5" by OP606 Well where do I begin? This is the second show I saw in three days. The first was on Friday at Nassau and I thought that show was great. We were sitting on the floor, center stage, row 27. But at Sunday's show we were in Section 108 and the band was to our left. Both shows were great but two different views. I've been a fan of Fleetwood Mac for a very long time and I know just how great they are in concert. I met someone about a year ago and she kind of liked some songs by FM but didn't know it was FM. Well, after listening to FM for some time and seeing them in concert, she just loves them and thinks Stevie has been peeking in her journal and writing songs based on that. Anyway, it makes feel good to turn someone on to FM . The Show..
THE CHAIN..5..The only song to start the show. Well I know we had an excellent time at both shows and a memory that will last a lifetime. Fleetwood Mac is a band you must see in person to really appreciate the individual talents they have and you must be bring a very special person to share the experience with. That's all...peace out. Great! Great! Great! Happy Birthday Stevie!
Maybe they'll let her play Running through the Garden next time...wish I could have heard it! Pre Concert Saw them Friday, rested Saturday...still processing. We sat in the LOWER SECTION (one section above the floor and to the left of Stevie, surprisingly still a great view. Unfortunately this crowd was not like the one on Friday and we were surrounded by talkers and people who won tickets and had no idea who Fleetwood Mac was. GRRR! Still, they sound great, the view was great and I was ecstatic. The ignorant row behind us: probably folks that came to see the Dixie Chicks perform Landslide, I could have done without.
The Concert Rated "5" by Michael McDonald More like and 10!! I was lucky to have seen Mick, John, Stevie And Lindsey for the second time in a week at the Meadowlands last night. The set list stayed the same and the show was great as it was in Atlantic City.
Some of the highlights for the night were Eyes Of The World, Landslide
which when Stevie was singing I'm getting older too, she held her
fingers up and did a "55" for the age she is today (Monday), as well
as great versions of Come, Stand Back, Never Going Back Again
(which Lindsey dedicated it to his two children) and Beautiful
Child. Lindsey really stole the show. It was a great night for all.
WOW!!! What a show!!! I'm still reeling from such an awesome night, and I really need to see these people perform again on their next leg of the tour!!! Now to the songs: The Chain: It sounded great, especially John's bass line...they started the show off wonderfully, without any problems. Dreams: Dreams is...well Dreams. It was nothing special live, but Stevie did a nice job with it...I could live without it being in the set list though. Eyes Of The World: Nice to see Lindsey doing some "obscure" tunes...this sounds much better live than on Mirage...they had a lot of fun with it, and the new intro was really cool. Peacekeeper: This got a great response from the audience when it was introduced, and of course it sounded great...even the pre-recorded parts. Second Hand News: A great, energetic song, that sounded wonderful...Stevie joined in on the bow bow's, and Lindsey got into the dododo's...I would have preferred to see Monday Morning or Blue Letter in it's place though. Say You Will: Sounded much better than it did on the Tonight Show, and Stevie was really cute when she introduced it...she was like "it's from you Say You Will..and it's Say You Will!". Never Going Back Again: He dedicated this one to his kids who were there tonight, and he did such a beautiful job with it...it sounded very much like the studio version...simply beautiful. Rhiannon: Surprisingly, this one was great...I was expecting Stevie to be a bit tame, but she really tried to let loose as best she could, especially at the end...much better than the Dance version, IMHO. Come: I got so excited when he started playing it...the solo at the end was so awesome that I just had to grin and shake my head...it like went on FOREVER. Gypsy: I was really not looking forward to this one, but it actually sounded good...it's a bit more acoustic sounding, and the video screens in the back were cool. Big Love: Awesome....that finger picking of his is simply amazing... Landslide: When I saw Stevie coming back on stage, I braced myself because I knew this was coming, and when the crowd cheered, I had to laugh and roll my eyes...still, it was wonderful, and everyone was singing along...including me. When she sang, I'm getting older too, everyone cheered...which was pretty funny, because it's her birthday!! Say Goodbye: Pretty tame, but then again, the studio version isn't that crazy, either...still, a solid tune, though I wished it was a bit louder. What's the World...: The only song that I was a little "disappointed" with...only because it wasn't as peppy as the studio version...still, a lot of fun. Beautiful Child: I've been waiting to here this song for a long time, so when they finally played it, I was ecstatic. It was simply beautiful...as good as the studio version. Gold Dust Woman: Another awesome number, and she looked great in her shawl...the scream was great too. I'm So Afraid: The guitar solo...dear lord, the guitar solo...I can't tell you how impressed I was. Silver Springs: As good as the Dance version...and that's a compliment :) . Tusk: Lindsey was a real animal during this one...going up to John and Stevie, ramming them with his head...he was crazy, and Mick was great on drums. Stand Back:I admit it, I didn't want to hear it, but I loved it...especially the spins!!!! GYOW: It was great, although I had some trouble hearing the guitar solo...still awesome, though. World Turning: Mick was wonderful on drums, and I'm actually happy that his vest didn't work...come on, admit it, so are all of you ;) !! Don't Stop: Another song that I DID NOT WANT TO HEAR...but sounded great nonetheless...Stevie covered it well...but Blue Letter would have fit right in here!!! Goodbye Baby: She looked great in that shawl she wore, and the song sounded great on stage...she didn't do that stupid whispering either!!
Overall, an amazing experience...you will not be disappointed, and if you can see these guys more than once, I highly recommend it!! LONG LIVE FLEETWOOD MAC!!!!!!!

A great mixture of old and new songs - Great presentation but
the volume was a little too high.
