5 BEING THE BEST

Rated "5" by Jared Vaughn

Wow - I was expecting a great show, but oh my gosh they were even greater than I expected.

They were a bit late coming onstage (reportedly due to John McVie signing autographs on a street corner) but when the lighting check illuminated Stevie's mic stand with its streamers, the crowd went wild. Minutes later they all came onstage and opened with "The Chain". Stevie was all smiles, as was Lindsey and that was great to see.

You can really tell there is a respectable friendship there. It was sooo great to hear "Eyes of The World" and "Second Hand News" which both rocked so hard, and especially "Beautiful Child". I think we all cried on that one. The new songs were great to hear, and like Stevie's Shangri-La tour, I didn't become tired of hearing them mixed with the classic material. Also, the lighting for this tour was by far the best that Fleetwood Mac has EVER used. It was flawlessly great and I appreciated the special effects. "

Landslide" was great, especially with the huge vertical screen projecting a larger than life Stevie. The crowd, with lighters in hands, almost outsang Stevie, proving that this song should be "the national anthem of our lives." "Tusk" was also great and refreshing. At the beginning of the show, Stevie seemed a little reluctant to her trademark moves, but by the time she sang "Rhiannon", she really let go. However, by far, she shined brightest on "Gold Dust Woman" and "Stand Back". On "GDW", the lights were incredible, her scream was great (go hoooooome), and she turned on all the moves, ending with this dragon-like pose admist a gold light coming from behind Mick's drums.

By the way, Mick rocked the night hard on the drums. 61 years old? Who knew!? Anyhow, secondly on "Stand Back", as soon as the synthesizers began, the crowd began cheering so hard, standing up, clapping their hands and dancing. Stevie noticed this and was all smiles during the first verse. Although, the best part was on the guitar interlude, when she began twirling with her arms spread like she was ready to take flight! She was spinning so fast! It was great. "Go Your Own Way" rocked, cheers to Mr. Buckingham for an incredible performance on this. Yes, I missed Christine, but Fleetwood Mac is Fleetwood Mac and they proved that while it may not be exactly the same without her, they can still rock and put on a show with new and classic songs. Brett Tuggle, Stevie's keyboardist, cheers to him. He had the keyboards/synthesizer parts down perfectly. If you haven't yet gone to see Fleetwood Mac - GO SEE THEM! It is an INCREDIBLE experience, one that I'll not ever forget.

I thought the concert was absolutely wonderful. Hard to believe just how great it was. I've seen many concerts, Janet Jackson, Elton John, Madonna, and many more, and I put Fleetwood Mac right up at the very top. Unbelievably GREAT!

Finally my dream came true and I was able to see Stevie and Lindsey on stage together and the wait was well worth it!  The show was absolutely fantastic and worth the money spent.

The show lasted about 2 1/2 hours and each member of the band was really into the show.  I have heard some say that Stevie was not at her best but I could not disagree more. I saw her earlier this past year when she was on her solo tour and she was just as good performing at the Greenville show as she was in Charlotte.

I loved everything about the show including the choice of songs.  I was especially surprised at the variety.  I LOVED Lindsey's performance of his song from the album "Mirage", "Eyes of the World."  It was great and he really jammed on that guitar.

For anyone wanting to see a great show, I highly recommend this one!  The only thing missing was Christine and I do hope that she will reconsider and tour with the band together as they still have it!

It was good. Lindsey hasn't lost a thing, very high energy, very classy show. Lindsey is his own worst enemy though. He got in the lime light and played some of the edgier stuff solo while the rest of the band "rehydrated" backstage. The edgier stuff was clearly not the fans favorite. When the rest of the band returned, people were on their feet again. Stevie and Lindsey's solos were fantastic except on one (on the new album I believe) the sound system just didn't seem right. That was the only glitch between a 4 and a 5

The show was great!

First of all is a wonderful idea not to have a opening act. This faked out some people who did not know and came late. They did not change their set from other shows and started on time. they gave a full two hour and a half show that didn't slow down a time. Buckingham was as energetic as a 20 year old, and kept breaking guitar strings at a rapid pace. Stevie's voice was as strong as ever. she looked like her weight is going back up but whose doesn't. Mick's solo was a little weird for me but he seemed to enjoy it a lot. John hasn't changed much since I saw them on the Rumours tour in 1976. hard to beleive they are still going strong 27 years later. If you get a chance to see them do it and splurge for the good seats.

It was a great show but Stevie definitely seemed REALLY uninterested, especially in the beginning.

It was great watching Lindsey chasing her around the stage by the end. By the encores, he was all over her, kissing her and everything. It was a great show over all

I drove 100 miles to see the show...it was the best! If they come nearby again and I don't have transportation, I'll walk!

Great show.....one question though....Does Stevie have diabetes or something cuz it looked like she had special shoes on.....and she didn't move around as much as I have seen in the past.

INCREDIBLE

What an amazing night it was! Front row seats, not that I sat down once the entire show...I truly had the best spot in the house for the entire show - standing against the stage exactly in between Stevie and Lindsey. Stevie sounded beautiful, Lindsey was insane on guitar. Everything you've read about how great this band still is live, is absolutely true.

Early in the show during Landslide I held up the Rumours LP I brought with me and Lindsey saw it and nodded - I yelled back at him asking him if he'd sign it - he nodded and mouthed 'yes, later'. At the prodding of some of the people behind me, I tossed the LP up on stage after the last encore and Lindsey signed it for me. As he handed it back I couldn't resist asking him to see if Stevie would sign also, but he said no and just signed it again for me! How cool is that? Experience of a lifetime....

We had 2nd row seats. Lindsey played a superb guitar and sang quite well.

He covers the missing Christine's songs competently, though in a lower range. They did a great bunch of songs, the usual assortment, but everyone was happy. Stevie's voice is still good, it is a shame she can't dance anymore. It appears she may be suffering leg problems to some extent. It was still quite enjoyable. Fleetwood was wonderful on the drums. The backup drummer was excellent. I gave the concert a 4.5 out of 5.

I just got in from my concert.... wooohooo! They TOTALLY ROCKED! Whew... I don't know where to start! Stevie's voice was buttery, pitch perfect, and she sang at a higher register than she has in many many years. She didn't wimp out on the high notes either! She just let loose and went nuts!!! Especially on Rhiannon and World Turning! She twirled away like a fool, and smiled and goofed off all night. She kept putting her hands on her hips and doing this swirling motion . LOL! She really looks great up close too... she's much, much more petite than she appears in pictures and TV.

Lindsey was a maniac... he was all over the stage tearing up that guitar. During Tusk he kept purposefully backing into John, and head-butted Stevie, and kinda fake choked her... LOL!! She just kinda ran around...haha! He really really paid attention to his fans too. He'd get right down with them on the edge of the stage, and sit and play... sign albums, shake hands, all night long! I swear at one point he was staring at me... LOL. By the time Goodbye Baby rolled around, I had made my way up to 4th row, and I was just standing there grinning like a fool. He'd just stare in my direction, then look away, and stare right back! Maybe it was my shirt... lol (I've wore my Mirage jersey shirt).

Though the concert started out kinda slow, once the crowd started loosening up, so did the band. They really pulled out all the stops, and gave one helluva show! I've heard the Columbus show recordings from burnish.net, and let me tell you guys... Greenville was 10 times better!! I've decided though, if they do a second leg that I've GOT to make a "JOHN ROCKS!" sign... hehe
