5 BEING THE BEST
Rated "5" by Doug
Consider this a review from one of the 12,000 or so
"conservative lame-asses" of whom Audrey was so disdainful. Believe it
or not Audrey there are those of us who can completely enjoy a spectacular
musical performance by staying in our seats on our "lame asses." Most
of the crowd, by my estimation, have been huge Mac fans since before you were born.
When you've lived as long as we have, and followed the band for as long as
we have, then (and ONLY then) can you criticize those of us who've
purchased every album over the past 30 years. By the way, Audrey,
were there any "liberal lame asses" in the group or just conservative ones?
My guess is, since you're only 25, you wouldn't know the difference between
a liberal or a conservative if one bit you in your ass.
Now on to the show:
Simply spectacular! It was a 2 hour-plus feast for the ears and well
worth the outrageous ticket price. The star was Lindsey as he brought
the crowd to its feet on several occasions. Stevie was exceptional and,
apparently, much more expressive than she has been at earlier shows.
Mick was tremendous and it appears as though he has even more energy
than he did 30 years ago-a master showman! John on bass was outstanding.
If only...Christine was with the group. But four out of five ain't too bad.
There is no way anyone could have left this show disappointed. A "5" all the way!

Great concert, but no songs that Christine played, and no mention of her. WHY?

I am 25 years old. I was so excited to see these legends kick ass
in person...it was a dream fullfilled, and even if I never get the chance again, money well spent.
It was as good as I imagine it would have been 25 years ago.
My biggest complaint is the crowd.
It's such a shame that I would have to travel to New York or L.A. or some other place to have
a pumped up crowd to vibe with. The Grand Rapids crowd was a bunch of conservative LAME-ASSES
that sat on their asses like they were at the ballet or a symphony. Lindsey loves playing off
the people that are going nuts for him... (like some to stage right were doing) and although he
was AMAZING and full of energy..I ache to know how crazy he could have gone if the crowd was
better.
Stevie was great- totally on her game (although she looked a liitle forced and stiff in the beginning) and I liked seeing her do her "Stevie thing" and twirl on stage as older fans expect..but part of me wants her to give up the old garb, cut the super long hair and get modern. Her fans can appreciate the old songs with an updated version of herself all the same. Mick crazy drum-beast antics lived up to his reputation. Missed Christine's songs. Loved seeing interaction between Lindsey and Stevie- 2 of the greatest living musicians/performers and the old vibe between them still shows... they could do two hours together and no one would be able to look away. I hope they work together forever! Despite the lame attitude of the crowd...loved seeing so many generations love this music.

I have been a Fleetwood Mac fan since Rumours. I just got to see my idol Stevie Nicks. Let me tell you I was so overwhelmed I can not explain how I really felt. It was the best concert I have ever been to. Even with the high ticket prices it was worth every penny of it.
Stevie looked so beautiful, she blew me away. My favorite song she has ever wrote is Landslide, because at a time in my life it was if she wrote it just for me and I cry every time I hear it. She did the same at the concert. I waited a while to see her trademark moves but it was sure worth the wait. She rocked the house.
Lindsey was way better than I could have imagined. My husband and I just loved his guitar work. What a master! He rocked the house and I tell you he alone would have gotten a standing ovation.
Of course Mick Fleetwood was hilarious, jamming, and just plain awesome. I laughed, sang, and danced. He is the best drummer I have ever heard.
John seems to always be the one left out of the band but he is awesome also. I loved the new members of the band and did not actually miss Christine but it wasn't the same in some ways without her.
I will say that this crowd was really sad to me. How can someone sit through a whole concert is beyond me? Why go if you can not enjoy yourself. Rock on Fleetwood Mac. Totally worth it, blew me away.

They were great, even if Stevie can't hit the high notes anymore (neither can I). Too bad Christine chose not to tour, but it was still fine. They played for nearly 2-1/2 hours, didn't miss a beat. Mick's drum vest was wild!

I've always been a huge Stevie Nicks fans and she was absolutely incredible last night. Her unique voice was right on the money and she thrilled the audience. Mick Fleetwood is such a showman and has passion and fire in his eyes. My respect for Lindsey Buckingham grew immensely as I've always appreciated his guitar work but live he is an absolute guitar god and very good lyrically.
I've been waiting to see them live for a long time and had huge expectations and they exceeded them. Totally fantastic.

I have made it a mission to seek out the concerts of the guitar gods of our time, and Fleetwood Mac was a must-see due to the virtuosity of Lindsey Buckingham. I went hear and see his guitar play, but got much more.
The concert was truly a showcase for Lindsey, his guitar play, his high energy vocals, and his songwriting prowess. The material from the new album was just as enjoyable as the FM classics. It's great to see musicians having such a good time in concert, and the members of FM certainly appeared to be enjoying themselves. I remain astounded by the layers of sound in a song like "Big Love." Stevie easily brought the crowd to a roaring height with her timeless renditions. She ages gracefully along with each tune. Even Mick got his moment of glory with the drum vest, although at first I thought it was his stomach producing the echoing drum solo. Kudos to the back-up band and background vocals, with as many as seven voices and four guitars on some of the tunes, they truly created a memorable live ensemble performance. Once a lifetime.

It was a dream come true. They sang my favorite on the second song "Dreams". Stevie sang it a bit different but it was still great. I was shocked to see how tiny she is! Mick hands were so fast drumming all you saw in some parts were just a blur.

Mr. Fleetwood, You rock! The show was so incredibly captivating! Nothing like the music of the 70's!

Wow, it was great to finally see the band that helped bring my wife and I together back in '77! It was a great concert! They can still pump out the sound after all these years!

Incredible...Stevie sounded great and looked amazing.
Highlights were Landslide, Rhiannon, Gold Dust Woman, Stand Back, Silver Springs, and Goodbye Baby...the most memorable moment for me at this or any other concert was Beautiful Child--one of the most moving and haunting songs ever written. I never thought I would get to hear this live--WOW! I was disappointed they cut Destiny Rules and Runnung Through The Garden from the playlist--I love those songs!
The only complaint I have is that the music sometimes overpowered the vocals. Lindsey was fierce--on fire...he played with such passion and energy. Big Love, I'm So Afraid, Come...all rocked. I loved Eyes of the World done live--wasn't sure I would, but what a surprise! Peacekeeper and What's the World Coming To were great too. I saw both Michigan shows--Detroit and Grand Rapids-- they were both terrific!

BEST. CONCERT. EVER. This concert was absolutely awesome! Completely worth the seven hour drive (each way!) to get to the concert.
I was a little worried that the crowd wasn't going to be standing up or dancing (I was in the seventh row), but they were for the most part.
Sometimes people sat down when FM played songs off their new album ("Come" or "What's The World Coming To?"), maybe because they didn't recognize them or something, but when Lindsey started rocking (especially on "Come"), I knew people would get up. Some jerk behind me made me sit down during "Beautiful Child", but that was the only time I wasn't up and dancing.
I've read a few other fan reviews where people have thought it took The Mac a couple songs to warm-up, but I thought they were incredible start to finish tonight. They looked like they were having a great time, and Stevie sounded beautiful. She was really into "Rhiannon", "Gold Dust Woman", and "Stand Back", and I was so excited! However, I think it was really Lindsey's show. He was interacting with the audience, and he just ROCKS SO HARD!
I'm so happy I went to this concert. Fleetwood Mac sounds GREAT, and if you're going to one of their upcoming concerts, you will NOT be disappointed.
And for all those Stevie/Lindsey
romantics out there, there was a little of that cute flirting stuff going on too.
It was an incredible concert I will never forget!
