5 BEING THE BEST
Rated "5" by Olen Zephier
It was an amazing show! I loved every minute of it.
I am glad they didn't replace Christine McVie with another singer.
Although it would have been so cool to hear Christine McVie, Fleetwood
Mac still put on one hell of a performance! I loved that they pulled
out "Beautiful Child." Rather than being dubbed an "Oldies Act," they
did a lot of new stuff, making them fresh and vital again. You could see about 5,000
lighters and 17,000 voices during "Landslide." Two stupid teenage girls
behind us said, "I didn't know they sang that song! I thought the Dixie Chicks
wrote it!" I could have slapped them upside the head. Anywho,
the star of the show without a doubt, was Stevie Nicks. Her voice
is still as strong as it ever was, her stage presence unparallel,
and she knows how to rock and roll. For proof, see the show and
hear her during "Gold Dust Woman" and "Stand Back."
Lindsey Buckingham is an awesome player!! He broke a guitar string during
one of the new songs, but continued playing and it still sounded AWESOME!
He brought down
the house during "Go Your Own Way." Everyone was on top of their chairs
rockin and rollin. If you have to see one show this summer, see Fleetwood
Mac! It's definitely worth it!

I thought this concert was truly amazing! I'm still in shock that I was standing just 8 rows away from this legendary band!
The downside, which is the only downside, was trying to get into Christine McVie's songs with Stevie filling in. Also, Stevie didn't really seem excited until the middle of the concert, whereas Mick and Lindsey especially were smiling throughout the whole concert. I think she just needed time to warm up because she seemed more into the music later on. Stevie was wonderful during Gold Dust Woman and Landslide.
Mick's drum solo on his vest was cool and weird at the same time. I thought the percussionists were the most talented of the background musicians.
I really think Lindsey stole the show though. He performed colorful guitar solos and was full of energy. I wish I could have been one of the lucky people in the front row to be able to pluck a few strings of his guitar! I always thought Lindsey was a talented guitarist, but seeing him live made me realize just how great he is and how he is so underrated in the music industry.
On a personal note--I am only in my early 20's, but I still think Lindsey Buckingham is an extremely attractive man. It's hard to believe he is in his 50's!
The way I knew this reunion tour wasn't just for the money was when I saw Lindsey's face before, during, and after each song filled with modesty and enjoyment from the reactions of the love-struck audience.
This was a great first live experience of the band, and hopefully not the last!

There are no words for the pure joy of seeing this show. I cried like a baby about 5 different times. The band was incredible. Amazing. How great was "Eyes of the World?" How amazing was "Stand Back?" (Not even a favorite of mine, but I loved this arrangement?) How incredible to hear "Second Hand News?" How much do I DIE every time I see Lindsey play "Big Love?"
We had seats in section 107--first tier off the floor, but WAY in the back. The people a few rows back kept threatening to call the ushers if my husband and I didn't sit down (ugh). But these nice people behind me kept saying, "You stand up!" after I told them that my love for FM was unparalleled in the universe (but I don't have the $ for front row seats---ARGH!). Thanks to those women, whoever they were!
"Beautiful Child" is so gorgeous, and I wept and wept when Stevie and Lindsey did "Say Goodbye."
Mick's drum solo is so cool! You have to see it.
Whatever you do, don't leave the arena for any reason.

Let me just say it was the greatest concert of my life! They completely owned the whole arena. Everyone was so happy! It was the greatest night of my life! Lindsey is the best guitar player in the world! Every song was performed flawlessly! Stevie still has it, she looked beautiful when she had her different colored shalls on for Gypsy and Gold Dust Woman. I loved it! Greatest ever! Mick totally got into World Turning and Don't Stop! WOW! What an awesome concert! -- *RHEANNON*

Unbelievable show. I was seated in the front row
and had the opportunity to be one of the lucky few to strum Lindsey's guitar.
I read a lot of comments about other show where people did not stand up, etc.
Not so at the Excel Center. The ENTIRE crowd was up on their feet the ENTIRE
show. They rocked, and we rocked with them.

The enthusiasm and enjoyment of the concert exhibited by
Fleetwood and Buckingham was sincere. This is more than just a reunion tour
to make money. I think they are enjoying it. Nicks took a while to warm
up but seemed equally into it about 2/3s of the way through the show.
Great show.

Overwhelming - I loved this show. Stevie is simply the best.
Lindsey was completely wild on the guitar. Some young fans behind us kept saying he
is a guitar god in a drunken slur. Mick's crazy eyes on the big screen are pretty scary.
The crowd was pretty good and the floor seating was better than I expected.
Go see the concert if they come near you!

What can I say?
We bought 2nd row center floor tickets earlier in the week,
and scored front row seats the day of the show! Right in front of Stevie, between her
teleprompters, all night long. What an experience!! She made eye contact and smiled at
us several times (we dressed up - girlfriend wore a "Stevie-type" black dress, and I had on a Rolling Stones "tongue" tie with my Sturgis leather headwrap). Anyone who had front row seats (even those on the far wings) could mingle directly in front of the stage.
It really was the Lindsey/Stevie show - they sang directly to each other on most songs, and had a lot of interaction, both visual and physical, all night long.
Stevie wore a long black dress to mid-calf, and some black platform boots - almost like Army boots, but a little more fashionable? She changed tops about 3-4 times - one of them was a nice revealing one for you cleavage fans. She still looks pretty good for her age, and even though she doesn't hit all the high notes, she sounded great. We got most of our sound from the on-stage monitors, and it sounded great. Mick did his vest thing - the man is crazy!! Lindsey also let a couple of fans strum his guitar, and he signed a few autographs after the last song.
Only downside - it seemed like Stevie didn't really get into the show until 1/2 way thru, and the set list seems very firm - it would be nice to change it up a bit, but I doubt that they will based on past performances. Still, it was one of the better shows I have seen.

Attended the concert this evening in St Paul...and it rocked the house.
So many memories of wonderful times came flooding back while I heard some of the songs.
It was wonderful.. and they looked and sounded fabulous!
