FANS ARE NOW RATING THE SHOWS AS WELL

1-5

5 BEING THE BEST

Rated "5" by Judy Steiner

I have loved Fleetwood Mac since the age of 16, and I'm forty now. I feel I've grown with them. The concert was the best I have ever seen, my only disappointment was that two of my favorite songs from the new album were not played( Illume and Running through the Garden). I loved the concert so much I'm going again to St Louis to see them. It would be great if they changed the set just a little, I think the new album is awesome and would like to hear more at the concert.

I agree completely with Ryan Nowatka on this one. They never should have ended this show the way they did. The blew the lid off the place and then slammed everyone down again with that slow ending.

I don't know what kind of music fan "David" is but come on. How many shows of Springsteen's have you actually been too? Let's see, I saw him in Chicago '99 and St. Louis '00 and he ended with Ramrod. And in '02 in Milwaukee he ended with Little Queenie. Are those slow songs "DAVE"?

I just saw Pearl Jam earlier this year in Champaign and Chicago and they ended with Baba O'Reilly and Rockin in the free world. Not slow "DAVE"

Okay, I'll keep going. I saw the Stones at Camp Randell in '97 and they ended with Brown Sugar.

U2 ended all their shows during the last tour with Walk On. Not slow "DAVE"

I can go on and on and so can you I guess with your shows but the point is IF YOU ARE SUCH AN EXPERIENCED CONCERT GOER THAN YOU CAN'T TELL ME YOU LEAVE EVERY SHOW WITH A SLOW SONG.

SO DON'T TRY TO BE MISTER CONCERT AND SAY THAT EVERYONE DOES BECAUSE THEY OBVIOUSLY DON'T. In closing, this Fleetwood Mac show would have been great if I would have left before the last song.

My first Fleetwood Mac show, and I was DAMN impressed. I've seen a lot of other 70's bands do a tour long after their star had risen (Rolling Stones, The Who) and their performances always seemed forced. Not so with FM. The band was lively and, moreover, sincere, clearly having fun making music, pleasing the crowd, and receiving our adulation. They were very appreciative of the fanatic response they received from the audience--Lindsey especially seemed to be on an incredible high, throwing his head back and thrusting his arms in the air. He smiled and thanked the crowd several times, as did Stevie and Mick, with much gratitude and sincerity--not phony at all. Lindsey even signed autographs as he was leaving the stage between sets!

And the music (which is why we all went, right?) was just incredible. The set list was a terrific mix of loud, thundering percussion-based tunes balanced with some of FM's more chill, relaxed songs. (I didn't miss Christine's presence too much--I like her stuff but her songs were never really my faves.) The new songs they chose were terrific too. A good way to introduce them to people who may not have heard 'em (like, uh...me.)

Stevie's vocals were delivered honey sweet and with great vigor. The quality of her voice hasn't changed a bit, even if she chooses not to go for those ultra-high notes anymore. So she didn't do cartwheels and jumping jacks--who cares? She sounded spectacular and was definitely into the performance. I went to hear her sing, not do back flips. She spun a few times too, and her arms, eyes, and hips (woo-hoo!) were very expressive. Better still, she smiled a lot.

The theatrics were left to Mick--whose mugging behind the drums was priceless---and especially Lindsey, who not only played UNBELIEVABLY well but was also extremely energetic and clearly having a blast. He played ferociously, with great technical skill as well as with some hardcore rock star intensity and panache. I never thought of Buckingham as such a skilled guitarist, but he's clearly a master of his craft. I'd put him up against Townsend, Richards, or Clapton any day.

Many highlights---Lindsey's wild, rapturous guitar work; Mick coming out from behind the drums to play a drumpad strapped to his vest, and of course, Stevie. Her very presence was electric. She still embodied all that we fell in love with about her; sexy, strong, sultry, mysterious, and that VOICE. (Plus, she looked stunning! Totally hot. I'm smitten.) I was also impressed that they played for so long--about 2 1/2 hours minus breaks, I'd guess.

The number one highlight HAD to be "Stand Back." (Gotta be a unanimous choice--the crowd went absolutely WILD when when the opening chords played.) It was transformed from an over-produced 80's radio hit to a rollicking, intense, sexy show-stopper. What an excellent surprise--I don't think any of us saw it coming.

I'm not sure what technical problems people saw or heard; I didn't catch a one and I was sober! It was a very mixed crowd--there were just as many people in their 20's as in their 50's. That was really nice to see, and everyone appeared to enjoy the show equally well.

Go see the Mac. You won't be disappointed.

I saw Stevie on the Shangri-La tour but this was my first time seeing the band and I was completely blown away!

From the first beats of The Chain I had chills! Several times during the show I felt tears come to my eyes and I'm sure I'm not alone! Stevie sounded wonderful and Lindsey looked like he was having the best time! The man is a wild man! The crowd went absolutely nuts for Landslide (when all the lighters came out) and Rhiannon. Everyone absolutely loved Mick's body drum solo and John was his quiet but ever present self. The only time Christine was really missed was during Don't Stop when Stevie sang her part but Stevie did a great job and really made it her own. An absolutely amazing night I didn't want it to end and I wish I could have gone to the Friday night show too.

The concert was absolutely incredible! They sounded fantastic. I have never seen Lindsey so full of energy! After his songs, he was so proud! He was like a madman on the guitar. I had never seen him play it without holding it! Very wild! I thought I would miss Christine's songs, but I really did not. It was different to hear Stevie sing her parts on Don't Stop. Overall, I never wanted it to end! Amazing!

I went to the Thursday night Chicago show. I wish I had gone to Friday's as well. I've read all of the fan reviews of both nights and can only assume that most people who went, while they're likely FM fans, are not veteran concert-goers. I have been to hundreds of concerts over the past 30+ years by well over a hundred performers, including several dozen by such heavyweights as Springsteen (my ultimate favorite), Clapton, Grateful Dead, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Peter Gabriel, Bonnie Raitt, etc. Let me just say that Thursday's FM show is simply one of the best concerts I've seen! I expected a good show - they are veteran professionals after all. I have been a casual fan of FM since the '70s and my wife is a huge fan. This concert was well above and beyond my expectations. I saw Stevie on her solo tour a couple of years ago at the United Center and thought it was a very good show - she was better Thursday night! Her voice was fine - lacking the range of the 70s but so what, it's still great. And so she doesn't twirl much - as one other reviewer said, she's 55! And she has bad feet and a bad back! But she delivers emotionally!

And then there's Lindsey. I've always known he's a good guitarist. But now I know he's great. He's simply a musical genius and a guitar virtuoso. And no, it wasn't too loud. It's a rock concert. It's supposed to be loud. His playing perfectly conveyed the emotion and mood of the songs, especially in his intense solos such as in Come.

I wouldn't have changed anything about the concert and didn't miss any songs. They played songs I never expected but am glad they did, such as Never Going Back, and didn't miss the hits they skipped, such as Sara. They're a different band without Christine but I didn't miss her. I love Christine's voice and her songs but I also appreciated the harder rocking version of FM that's touring now.

As to the sound, Allstate Arena has never been known for good sound but with today's sound systems, it's better than ever. I sat (stood actually) in the 17th row on the floor and the sound was great. It is unfortunate that there are areas in the arena where the mix is not as good as others but on the floor the mix was great throughout the night.

And to those who complained about the band closing with a slower song - all I can say is you obviously don't go to many concerts or are simply interested in the partying and not the music. First of all, it was a beautiful song. Second, the arena doesn't mandate closing with a slower song, the band makes that decision. Third, most bands (at least those with any sense of what makes a good show) close shows with a somewhat mellower song than the penultimate song. (That means the second to last song for those of you who don't know the difference between "than" and "then".)

And for those of us who are fans of the music and the artistry of the bandmembers, it is great to see a band perform new as well as old songs. It's not just the hits we come to see although we want some of the hits also. I happen to think Say You Will is a great album, definitely their best since Rumours in my opinion. The great new songs help to infuse new energy into the old songs. Performers must get bored playing the same song over and over year after year. FM is not an oldies act playing a greatest hits tour. They are still a viable band with new music that deserves to be heard. If all you want to do is get drunk and hear the hits from the 70s, stay home and let the true fans get the tickets.

I would've rated this show a 5 had Lindsey toned it down a tad. I appreciate his showmanship and excellent guitar playing but I found the cranked up volume a total distraction. Clapton plays a mean guitar but doesn't need to blow the roof off to capture his audience. Lindsey's voice and guitar were both so loud the sound was distorted - and I had great seats. I would write it off to poor acoustics in the Allstate Arena but I saw FM perform the Dance there which was flawless. In fact, it was one of the best shows I've ever seen. Stevie was very deadpan the first half of the show. I have a feeling her feet are really bothering her. No matter, her voice was wonderful and she brought the house down with Stand Back. I think that some of the melodic quality of FM is missing with the absence of Christine. That's ok, this is a slightly different FM now and as we all know, they change throughout time - that's they're trademark. All in all, I'd see them again and again.

This was my first Fleetwood concert. I was soo excited! And my excitement raised when we had front row seats to a shoot out between the police and an armed robber of the liquor store across the street! Crazy! However, I was hugely disappointed once we got inside the arena. Stevie was NOT into the show at all. She seemed dazed and confused. She could only stand at the microphone and blankly sing the lyrics. After a while she began going back stage every other song. The rest of the band was quite impressive. They were into the show and put on a great stage performance. Seeing Stevie just stand there while everyone else had such energy was a HUGE let down. What was she on?!

Rated "4" by Peter Taylor aka Nickslive

Thursdays show at Allstate Arena was nothing short of brilliant as far as I was concerned.

Beginning around 8:30pm, the late start to the show only added to the excitement and anticipation for The Mac to take the stage, you could feel it. The crowd was definitely a mixed one. You had your Stevie fans with their previous tour t-shirts on from Enchanted and TISL. You had your Stevie wannabes like the few ladies I saw in full Stevie regalia which was really something else. But there was no doubt that everyone was there to celebrate the music of this band and just have fun! There were a lot of people clearly older then my 37 years and I'm happy to report, a really good portion in their mid 20's and under. Too see such a vast spectrum of generations at this show really made me proud to be a Fleetwood Mac fan! From the opening of The Chain to the closing of Goodbye Baby were Stevie was given a rose from someone in the front row and walked off the stage - everyone was on their feet dancing and singing - which is how a great concert should be. My section didn't sit once, which was great, cause I was expecting people to tell us to sit down. Only twice can I really remember the majority of the crowd sitting or going for more beer and that was for Come and Say Goodbye. The SYW songs were actually received not too bad - Say You Will being received better then the others I thought. Of course after Lindseys guitar work on Come, the audience lunged. I would have liked to have heard Destiny Rules and Running Through The Garden too.

All the players were definitely on their game tonight - musically and vocally.

I had read previous reviews and how people thought Stevie may have looked bored or didn't seem to move much on stage and I respect their opinion, but in my opinion, she looked fantastic and moved no more or less then the others in the band, and I think she wore the boots at one stage. Except on Stand Back she completely cut loose and twirled us all into oblivion. They really do a great job on this song even thou it's a Stevie song and not a FM song. Earlier in the show Gold Dust Woman and Rhiannon were done to perfection. Rhiannon complete with flowing bat sleeves, Stevie's first costume change, was one of many Stevie moments that night. At the end of a haunting rendition of Gold Dust Woman Stevie arched herself in front of the drum set with her back to the audience arms spread out to the side and gold spot lights illuminating her in the gold cape she had on - it was simply beautiful, I can't get it out of my head...Beautiful!. Other moments were during Landslide hearing everyone in the audience sing the song at the top of their lungs. Must be a proud and overwhelming experience to hear your song sung back to you. Beautiful Child is a great addition to the set list - more of the older stuff should be tested out, I'm sure it could work just as well as this song did. Gypsy wasn't as exciting as I thought it would be but I still loved it. Eyes of the World - What a fun song to hear live - Stevie and Lindsey get the crowd worked up. So loud at the end we couldn't hear Stevie tell us about the next song - Say You Will, which I thought sounded fantastic live. Second Hand News - From my vantage point, you could see the crowd surge upwards once it began - nuff said!

Lindsey, on the other hand, was clearly the star player of the night. His energy with that guitar couldn't possibly be surpassed. Hammering and teasing his guitar breaking strings in the process on songs like Come. I don't know how he does it - the co-ordination and concentration involved would be immense. At the end of each solo you could tell he loved the frenzy he had just whipped us into. He pounded on his heart, jumped up and down and bowed many times totally excited and looked just plain ole thankful that we liked him...we really really liked him. He deserved all the applause he received. If there was one down side to Lindsey's performance it would be that I couldn't hear his finger picking brilliance as clearly as I would have liked because of everything else that was going on. On tunes like Big Love, it clearly stood out, but sometimes on other songs his guitar seemed to be lost in the mix. He did a lot of hand shaking this night with people on his side of the stage and like in previous shows allowed people to strum his instrument (nothing sexual intended) with great enthusiasm, pulling his guitar away a few times as people were getting carried away. It was great to see him having fun directly with the fans up front. He dedicated one song, and I couldn't hear him too well, but it sounded like he said to Bob his big brother or something like that. Stevie also dedicated one song, and I believe it was Landslide to the guy she loved back when she was 15 , missed his name, saying something to the effect that this inspired her to song write.

John McVie was no different than in any other show, and in any other decade I'm sure, choosing to be Mick's right hand man all night long. Not a major focal point of the band, but definitely appreciated just the same. His shining moment was on the opening number The Chain and he didn't disappoint.

Mick was and is a wild man and had us laughing a few times with his facial expressions. He just looks like he enjoys himself a lot. His drum solo vest thing near the end with the percussionist was his moment to shine up front. It was interesting and just long enough.

Also, I don't know about at other shows, but there were release signs posted as we entered the arena stating that this show was being filmed. Not sure what it was filmed for, but there was at least one camera guy running around on the stage that I saw with a hand held, and not just a camcorder type camera, it was a large film camera. So maybe we'll get a live dvd afterall. There was also a large number of photographers there in the sound mixing pit with these HUGE zoom lenses too.

The stage set-up was simple, but effective. I thought the lighting colours where beautiful. I didn't quite understand the reason for dropping that one piece down in the centre from the top to put up the grainy images of Stevie and Lindsey for just a couple of songs, but whatever. I was although happy to see large screens on either side of the stage, for the close-ups. God, what did they do back in the 70's? I guess a lot was left to your imagination as to what they looked like!

I'll end by saying that if you have any interest in seeing this band while they are on this tour, go to a show and try to appreciate the fact that a band like Fleetwood Mac comes around once in a lifetime. And if you do see them, you are witnessing something very special in time. They won't be around forever and we should take in these experiences when we can.

Rated "3" by Trudy W.

I really love this band! Unfortunately the show was so poor technically I couldn't distinguish the music at all. Everything sounded, except for a few acoustic songs, so muffled. And McVie's bass was so over-powering it took away from the overall song. This was nowhere near the quality of The Dance. A bit less noise would of produced a lot more show. And poor Stevie seemed so un-involved in the concert, except for the last 30 minutes.

Rated "5" by Ryan Nowatka

First time seeing my favorite band and I was impressed. The way Lindsey works that guitar is something that can only truly be appreciated when you see it live. I was happy with the song selection, but disappointed with how they ended the concert. They get me all pumped up on Don't Stop with Stevie taking the part for Christine (sellout) was awesome, then they drop that slow song on us? I think Allstate makes performers end with a downer, here's what I say to Allstate Arena.

Don't stop
a concert with a slow song
don't stop
you're bringin me to tears
keep serving beers
after the 10th song
man that's just wrong
all I smell is bong

Did anyone else happen to see the girl who wiped out in section 214? She had two beers and some guy had his crutches hanging out of the aisle and she fell about 7 steps. It only could have been better if it was during Landslide.

I am in love with Stevie Nicks, not the one we saw last night, the Stevie Nicks from 1978. The one who treated every song like she treated Stand Back last night. The spin she did brought me back all those years back to 1978, when I was one year old.

Overall, I had a great time, and found out that my wife is taking me to Summer Fest in Milwaukee this Sunday to see them again. What a great wife (she's no Stevie circa 1978)

This is the fifth time I have seen the Mac and it was fantastic! I wish they would have tinkered with their set list a little and I would've liked to have heard more of the new stuff but if I had any complaints that would be it. I guess I am lucky cause Stevie was totally into the Chicago show, from start to finish, and Lindsey was awesome.

Like fine wine these rockers get better with age. Highlight of the night was Beautiful Child, sounded great and was cool to here an older song that they never played on stage til this tour, I would like to see them perform more of their songs that were not "hits". World Turning rocked the house as well as most of the show.

I am seriously thinking of going again tonight if I can get a ticket. If not I can only hope they tour again cause the spark in this band of "Fireflies" still shines bright.

Great show last night.

Wish I had been there for the first half. (Big thanks to the asshole who held up the liquor store. Rest in peace you rumdumb)

Great performances from the band. There was a lot of crazy dancing going on last night. I want to thank the 40 something guy who helped me out with his interpretive dances to all the songs (Next time study the lyrics to the songs you Ramrod he was way off on everything) And to the girl with the jeans who gave her long ass thank you for hitting my leg with your arm every 5 seconds and apologizing to me each time. you would think after the fifth time she would stop but NO) Overall good show, could've used some more UP songs but after a career that spans about 25 years worth of coke use it is probably hard to keep rocking the whole night. And would it kill you to break out Sara or Hold Me? --I guess I am bitter. Well I am because I am listening to Temporary One right now and am pissed because I didn't hear it last night.

Rated "5" by April aka BlackMoonRising

Absolutely incredible...the show was freaking awesome. Stevie was wonderful - she had plenty of energy last. No way was she bored or not into it. AND she DID wear the boots again. She had the Reeboks on but then I noticed this during GYOW. They rocked the house last night. All the vocals were right on. Don't miss this show.

Rated "5" by Jim C.

All I can say is WOW. I am not sure what those people were thinking when they wrote in and thought the show was not worth the money. The Mac was absolutely fantastic and rocked the whole night. The entire crowd was on their feet for the majority of the show. They sat only for Come and Say Goodbye. By the end of the two songs, however, they were back on their feet (and this was an older crowd)

Lindsey is still awesome and I think finally getting the recognition he deserves for being one of the - if not the - best guitar player ever. Stevie still is the only woman of Rock and Roll. She writes, sings and performs her songs. Anyone who criticizes this woman because she does not twirl enough anymore is an idiot. She is 55 years old. And I can tell you, you will not be seeing the Dixie Chicks, J Lo, Britney, or any of these other make shift artists at that age. Nobody has the staying power of Stevie/Fleetwood Mac and nobody is making music that will be remembered and loved almost 30 years later.

Second Hand News was as good yesterday as it was the first time you heard it back in 1977. Stevie and Lindsey performed Landslide as only they can (nice try Natalie - but no). Beautiful Child was awesome. I think it was really the drums that makes you love that song (in addition to Stevie's voice and the lyrics). I cannot even describe Stand Back. The place was so loud. That song still pulls everyone right into it - amazing how a song written in the mid 80s can do that today. Gold Dust Woman is still one of the greatest rock and roll songs ever. Stevie was great with Dreams too. Eyes of the World was refreshing. And I cannot say enough good things about Lindsey's performance in I'm So Afraid.

I loved having the Gypsy video in the background during that song. I actually thought that would be cool to see before this tour started! Tusk was great. Stevie sang the second verse - which was certainly different but great. She also sang with Lindsey on Never Going Back Again. World Turning was awesome. And let's not forget - Go Your Own Way. Absolutely perfect.

There are a few things I would have changed. I would have dropped Come and Say Goodbye, although the crowd loved Stevie and Lindsey facing and singing to each other during the latter. I would have replaced them with Go Insane and of course - Sara - the song most all of us would love to see performed.

If you have a chance - get to the show. It is amazing. And buy the new CD. Peacekeeper, Say You Will and Goodbye Baby were very well received. But it is still obvious that many people still do not have the new CD.

Rated "3" by Bob Cumbers

I am a huge FM and I think the reviews of previous shows are very misleading. Part of the enticement of seeing performers in concert is to experience their stage presence. Lindsey's energy level was off of the charts right from the first song.

Stevie however was a huge disappointment. Don't get me wrong, she sounded good on most of the songs but did choose to skip some of the high parts. Stevie stood in front of her microphone with a blank look on her face and did not move a muscle for the first 90 minutes of the show. I was trying to determine if she was nervous, scared or just bored. It really took some of the fun out of the night. All these reviews on the website that boast of the chemistry between Stevie and Lindsey are a joke. Just because she looked at him a few times during the slower songs that's special.

The sound and performance was well above average but thank god that Lindsey has a pulse. It was sad to see Stevie stand like a statue all night. It certainly did not look like she was having any fun like Mick and Lindsey.

In closing it was fun seeing them on stage together again and they sounded good. Frankly their ticket prices for a lower level seat are obscene when you consider it will cost you $140 after all of the TM charges.
