5 BEING THE BEST

The show was incredible. I've been a Fleetwood Mac fan since I was 3 and this was my second time seeing them in concert (first was in Orange County on The Dance Tour.) I think the songs they picked were ideal, though I wish I could have heard Running Through the Garden or Destiny Rules, which were dropped very early into the tour. Highlights for me were The Chain, Eyes of the World, Come, Say You Will, Big Love and Tusk. The show was pretty consistent with most of the reviews I've read on here so far. John didn't really do much more than provide a killer bass for the entire show, Mick was his crazy self, especially during the World Turning solo, Stevie sounded great and was definitely more into Stand Back than any of the other songs. It was a real treat to hear Beautiful Child. Lindsey did his dance thing with her during Tusk, and said pretty much the same things in between songs, just like he did on The Dance.

Overall, it was more the Lindsey show than anything else though. The man is simply amazing. I really hope someday he is recognized and appreciated more than he is now for his amazing guitar work...particulary Big Love and Say Goodbye. Stevie did say something interesting, which was that she and Lindsey had played the San Diego Sports Arena in 1970, opening for Quicksilver Messenger Service and 2 other bands. Anyway, I know this review rambles, overall it was great...and it only gets a 4.5 instead of a 5 because I also saw them in Phoenix...which was a better show.

Always a fan of Fleetwood Mac, a last minute decision was made to go to Saturday Nights Show at the San Diego Sports Arena. My expectations were blown away by the intensity of the band, with 110% from everyone on stage. The dynamics of the music and the energy of the crowd put this at the top of my live show list, and it has been a very long time since I have felt honored to have been in attendance, perhaps one of the most crowd pleasing shows ever witnessed. Miss Stevie, you are a spiritual delight, Much Love from your Fans.

I just wanted to also say that Lindsey did "Oh Diane" It was not on the set list. Great performance too.Just another note John McVie did an awesome job too. Not to leave him out.He is a great guitar player, but doesn't seem to like the spot light (never really has I guess). Great job John... Thanks for a memorable evening.

Again, an AWESOME SHOW! This time I’ll write the review song by song. The Chain – A great song to start and they did a great job with it last night.

Dreams – I know some fans (including me) don’t like the fact that they doing this song but the truth once they started to play it I was singing along with most of the fans around. It’s a great song and I believe It’s their only number one, so it’s a most at concerts.

EOTW – I love this one, especially this live version. I got everyone on their feet and dancing. Peacekeeper – Solid song. I really like it.

SHN – AWESOME! Such a fun song to jump, sing and dance to.

SYW – Another great song. Stevie did her little dance. (lol) It’s fun to watch many fans doing the dance with her. She was smiling the whole time.

NGBA – Another one that got a great reaction from the fans. I love the harmonies between Stevie and Lindsey.

Rhiannon – AWESOME! A HUGE reaction from fans, Stevie sang it well but in my opinion the one from the second show of Anaheim was a little bit better.

Come – AWESOME! Lindsey is great guitar player and I have no doubt that all the fans there if nothing else would recognize that.

Gypsy – The best live version of this song was done last night. It would never top the studio version but it was great. Great vocals from Stevie.

Big Love – Again, Lindsey at his best. Awesome and Gorgeous!! lol

Landslide – This is where Stevie makes a speech about being that very building (San Diego Sports Arena) in 1970 opening Leon Russell and two other bands. She then dedicated the song to us. The fans where singing so loud especially at the part where Stevie sings, “see my reflection in the snoooooooow coveeeeered hiiiills” At that moment, Stevie made an expression like saying, Wow! That was loud and it was.

Say Goodbye – This one of my favorites from the CD and love it live. Love the harmonies.

WWCT – Fans sat down for the new ones but at the end of this one they were jumping and dancing to this one. Great Song!

Beautiful Child – This one almost make me cry. It’s been one my favorites from Stevie for so long it’s just AMAZING live.

GDW – AWESOME! Another great reaction from fans. Stevie is singing so well.

ISO – Lindsey’s guitar playing was Amazing and Intense on this one. Great vocals too.

After this moment, Stevie made an announcement that the back lights had gone out and in case they go again she said to us, “You are the light, baby”. Of course, there was a huge reaction to that. LOL

Silver Spring – Another huge reaction, you could hear the fans singing this one. Great Vocals.

Tusk – Huge reaction, people were jumping and dancing to this one. Lindsey went to John and this jumping, dancing little thingy. I guess that’s what so many fans are calling “tusking”. Then, it was Stevie’s turn and they did their little dance. Great, Fun Song.

Stand Back – TAKU!!! Great Percussions. Fans dancing and jumping at this one. Stevie twirl a lot and sang very well. She was having fun and kept moving her hips in very sexy way. She was smiling every time she did that. Great Vocals

GYOW – AWESOME! You could hear the fans singing at this one too. Lindsey let the fans in front row to play his guitar.

WT – I know I’m using this word a lot but what can I say but AWESOME!!! Mick was Amazing. Fans were on their feet jumping, clapping and singing along. I have to tell you it was LOUD!!! Stevie did a great job doing Christine’s part. Don’t Stop – Another one that everyone was dancing. Stevie did a very good job on her parts.

Goodbye Baby – In the two Anaheim concerts when this song started people sat down but in San Diego they DID NOT! They truly seem to love this song and every time she sang “I’ll be with you someday” fans would start to scream. I like the studio version of this song but the live version is better.

At the Stevie again said to us, “You are the light, Thank you”.

Stevie, Lindsey, Mick and John were all AWESOME in all of the concerts I went. I thank them for such an amazing experience they gave me.

Although our seats were in the upper level in the very last row, this show was breath taking.I have been a fan for many years and have never seen them in concert.I was very impressed. From the first song "The Chain" I knew I was in store for a really great show.Stevie was spectacular. Her voice is so incredible.Lindsey just ROCKED!!! He is just so full of energy. It was nice to see him and Stevie walk out hand in hand and hugging each other. What a nice touch on "Gypsy" with the video on the back screen, also with "Tusk" with the USC band too. After "Don't Stop" I actually didn't want them to stop. All in all I must say I had a great time. I hope I get another chance to see them again.Great job guys.Keep up the good work. You ROCK!! And as Mick said at the very end as he was exiting the stage "The Mac is BACK"!!!! WOO-HOO!!!

The show was absolutely great. The only thing that was a bit disappointing was Lindsey Buckingham's performance. I thought he went a bit overboard in what seemed to be an attempt to prove he's "still got it." Ms. Stevie Nicks, by far, has the most class on stage. I loved it!!!

What a great show. Before the show I was wandering around and I hear "John!" I turn around and an acquaintance of mine, Tim, was standing there fully dressed like Mick! I mean right the white shirt, vest, pantaloons and even the wooden balls (I didn't check for the red shoes!)! He looked sharp!

FM was in top form--the vox all sounded great and the band really seemed to into what they were doing. They did the usual show but they strayed from their usual speeches once or twice. During her dedication of Landslide to San Diego, Stevie mentioned a 4 city tour she and Lindsey did when they were in Fritz back in 1970 or so with Leon Russell et al that made a stop at the very same venue (San Diego Sports Arena) and my aunt started shouting because she had been at that show! My aunt didn't even know that she had seen Lindsey and Stevie live before because she hadn't ever made the connection between Fritz and FM! Later in the show there was apparently some technical problem with the lighting because Stevie came out and said something like "Just so you know, we've lost the back lighting, so if the rest of them go out--you guys are our light!" She then launched into another great performance (I think it was Beautiful Child or Silver Springs). At the end of the show (no more lighting probs had occurred) Stevie told the crowd "You are our light!"

What a great thing to say and the show would have been perfect had it not been for a fight that broke out between a couple of grown men (like John McVie's age) a few rows ahead. My Mom got pushed when one of the guys got shoved into a seat. Me and some others had to hold the guys back until security came (they didn't get there fast enough if you ask me). At least I know I'll never forget the show, if only because of the fight I helped break up.

As for the age thing, we had three generation of my family there and I saw all kinds of ages there--this was definitely a draw for all ages.

Now if I could just get a copy of KGB FM's replay of the concert!

As we were driving west on the 8 and getting ready to take Rosecrans exit, I had a thought. “I will be in the same room with Stevie Nicks…along with 10,000 other people!”

Whoever said Stevie was deadpan surely went to the wrong concert. She was great last night. The whole band was great. Mick was having a blast on his drums. At one point my husband noticed the gong behind Mick was gone. Then it was put up again. Nothing was said. Maybe it was taken down for the projectors. The things we notice…

Stevie smiled a lot, sang well and danced. Even Dreams sounded fresh! The audience cheered for Rhiannon. When she came out for Gold Dust Woman, she wore the gold shawl and had draped it around her for most of the song. Toward the end she undrapes it to get the ends on each of her hands. Some of the audience went a bit wild, knowing what she was going to do. She didn’t disappoint us. Stand Back rocked! I really like Fleetwood Mac’s Stand Back. Stevie danced and twirled did her “Stand Back thing.” Stevie related a story about having performed in the building before in 1970 with 3 other bands. She said she looked out at the audience and saw her future.

The Chain is a good song whether it is in concert or not. Last night was no exception. I can’t think of a better opening song. It kind of gets the audience going. Eyes of the World fits right in but after it ended, my husband wondered what the lyrics were! I told him I had them at home…

Lindsey (did I spell that right? It is one of those names that can be spelled so many ways which is difficult for a non-speller like me and his music is what counts, really) was, of course, extraordinary. He seemed a bit off key when he sang Peacekeeper but my husband figured he did that on purpose. Lindsey said something about if you don’t have love, you have justice and if there is no justice then there is force before he sang the song. If anyone taped it…the rest of his songs were perfect. His guitar wouldn’t quit! It gave me hope seeing a 54 (?) year old man up there playing like a 20-year old. All that energy…have you any energy you’d like to sell…?

Mick’s drum solo was so fun. We all got up, clapped and had nearly as much fun as Mick. My husband laughed, noticed the balls. I told him later these were Mick’s trademark. My husband laughed again. Mick is a goober, so says my husband, with his bug eyes and other such facial expressions when he plays.

John is john…profound, ay? He played is bass and was cheered as much as the rest when Mick introduced the band.

All in all it was a really good concert and definitely not disappointing. I smiled and danced pretty much the whole time. For a couple of the songs, we all sat down. They even sat down for Come! That rather baffled me. I wanted to get up but wasn’t into pissing off the people behind me, so I didn’t. Also, I didn’t let it upset me. Come is really good live. I had wanted to see Fleetwood Mac since 1977! And I would go again.

The show was fantastic! Lindsey Buckingham was non-stop incredible, never taking a break, and putting out 100% of the best I've seen. They were all at the top of their game. Stevie Nicks seemed a little tired-but her voice is a true as it ever was! They played for almost 3 hours and the crowd was ecstatic. We're just sorry it's over-A Very Happy Fan
