5 BEING THE BEST
Rated "5" by Derek
I had just seen them 2 nights earlier in San Diego which was a GREAT concert...but Phoenix was better. Stevie was MUCH more into the whole thing than she was in San Diego...I'm guessing this is because this is where she grew up and her parents were both in attendance.
The set was the same as it has been since the 4th night of the tour or so, and Mick, John and Lindsey were very consistent. I don't know how Lindsey can muster up that much energy night after night...he acts like he's in his 20's. Like San Diego, it was almost exactly the same things said in between songs, though Stevie did a lot more talking at this one than she did in San Diego. The only reason I give this one a 5 and the San Diego one a 4.5 is the fact that Stevie was visibly much more into this show than she was in San Diego.

Incredible! The performers were RIGHT on the money! Wonderful voices, amazing musicians, stupendous! I will say the only thing I have to complain about now and get on with the praises. WHAT is it about the sound systems/techs in the Phoenix area? Do all the professional rejects get sent HERE?! Lindsey's guitar was so highly trebled that it was painful! The volume was so high, even in the nosebleed seats it was hard to listen to at times. It really is a shame we couldn't fully enjoy his incredible talents! And the man IS an incredibly talented musician! Every single musician on that stage was astounding.
The 6 part cyc/background projection screen was a fantastic visual and the imagery was wonderful and fit each song so well. Too often designers come up with these ideas but fail to co-ordinate it with the onstage activities. This worked wonderfully in the Mac show!
I wish I could thank every single person in that audience! They were kind, giving, and appreciative. Probably the BEST audience I've ever experienced.
Stevie in an interview here locally stated that the show seems to rend itself to the feeling of the audience being part of the show and right on stage there with them. She was right! The performers were so giving and loving to the audience, it felt as if you were part of an experience, not just watching a show. The feelings that those artists exude from the stage hit the heart and wrap you up in the moment. The way everyone stood and sang Landslide, along with Stevie's emotions being poured out, moved me to tears, as well as the loving way she sang Beautiful Child for her "Daddy."
There were several solos during the show and all were mesmerizing. Mick's solo, of course was beyond description in greatness. All I can say is, if you've not seen them yet, stay and cheer them on to an encore or 2! I don't want to spoil anything, so I'll just say, he, and his use of technology, are mind boggling! The quality of the sound coming from his surprise instrument was like nothing I have ever heard before, and I work in technical theatre (not the music side though) Not electrical at all! My daughter is a percussionist and had never heard sound quality like that before either! HUZZAH! (to steal a medieval cheer)
If anyone reading this has been debating whether or not to see the concert, I highly suggest it, encourage you to buy your tickets now! If your show is anything like ours, you will NOT be disappointed!
I would also like to mention how gracious the performers were. Constantly saying thank you to the audience and Lindsey several times just stopped in his tracks and grabbed his heart as if to say he was touched by our reaction and thank you. They did a wonderful job playing to the audience and didn't spend the entire night facing front center. (which wouldn't have bothered me because I was so exactly in the center that the sound waves of Mick’s base drum were moving my hair.) They paid attention to us and that was so nice.
Technically, minus the sound problems, it was marvelous! The lighting designer deserves to be nominated for every award out there. Amazing color, worked with the music, not independently, great mood settings, grabbing visuals, wonderful use of the cyc/screen!
OK, I have one more, small negative. The show started about 1/2 an hour late. Didn't bother me, but the audience was getting restless. One of the problems was they forgot a mic for the guest speaker that talked a bit about the Arizona Heart Foundation that the ticket sales were going to. I thought it was a little amusing watching the techs scramble for about 5 minutes, in order to get it taken care of.
All in all, it was a wonderful emotion filled musical night that I am so glad I got to be part of.
I'd like to leave this with all the Mac fans and potential fans reading here: Mick Fleetwood’s closing words, "Take care, be kind to one another, and try to be happy in this crazy, crazy world. And remember, THE MAC IS BACK!"

Very special memories. My son (24) never has attended a F.M. concert. He loved it. I loved it! No complaints here! The band can still rock! Stevie and Lindsey were great! I had a really nice time at this concert.

I have always been a MAC fan, at my rip old age of 40, still a MAC fan. My wife was not much a MAC fan as I would always put there CD in when I worked around the house, she would state not that again!! Well after last night who had the CD of MAC in today, a born MAC fan my wife. The concert was awesome, full of life and energy. I must say it was one the best concerts I have seen in a long time. I am let down it is over.

The night was a very special treat for me...I got to go see one of my favorite bands with one of my best friends. My friend Mandy wanted to go and I promised her I would take her, and after reading some unhappy fan reviews, I became somewhat skeptical about what to expect. When the band took the stage, all my doubts were blown out the doors (literally) by the tremendous amount of sound that we were greeted by.
It was a truly unforgettable night, nothing to complain about. Mick was his manic self, of course. John was as always subdued but gracious nonetheless. Stevie looked like she had more fun that night than the two preivous benefit shows I have attended in Phoenix. As for Lindsey, well after watching him play his solos, I thought he would drop dead of a heart attack...he was out of control, yet the crowd loved every minute of it. It was quite a night to remember. Everyone who complained about the shows on this tour should not have gone, because I could find nothing to complain about. The sound was impeccable, and the performance was top notch. The Mac is back.

I have been a fan since I was a kid, but had never seen them in concert, until tonight.
They were awesome!
Solid music, with lyrics that speak for you, were laid down in simple fashion. Old songs, and new were put out in a perfect order that reached an encore finale of "World Turning" where even the old couple in front of me was on their feet singing.
Lindsey is . . . masterful and still fresh. Actually, so is the rest of the band!!
The show will remain one of my best memories.

Thought the show was great.........If I was a member of the band I think I would have a talk with the people who do the sound boards...A little disapointed at the sound of some of the songs. Lots of feedback and over powering of instruments at times. But all in all it is Fleetwood Mac and they rock!
