5 BEING THE BEST
Rated "5" by Michael Randolph
Three crowd-screaming encores, tears, laughter, hoarseness, clapping, foot stomping, dancing, whistles, shouts, howls & roars, pleading, praising, and exultation for two hours and forty-five minutes! It was like the orgasm that never quits! But where, oh where, was our beloved Christie?!?! Some were saying it was the greatest event in the history of the universe, but that was an understatement! Nothing will ever frenzy a crowd like this again! Unless they do it all over again with Christine McVie!

The concert was fabulous. Lindsay Buckingham is as good as he's ever been - entertaining, energetic, enigmatic! He completely stole the show, in my opinion! Mick Fleetwood hasn't changed one bit - he's as crazy as ever. They are all clearly devoted to their music & they don't seem even remotely bored playing those songs over & over! The audience loved Stevie Nicks, but personally I thought she had a difficult time recreating the 'old' Stevie. But the sexual tension that has always existed between Buckingham & Nicks was still there, especially when they sang 'Silver Springs'! One of the best concerts I've ever been to - these performers have personality & it shows in their on-stage presence!!

I can't even put it into words what I was feeling and still am feeling. It was the most powerful show I've ever seen.

Another solid performance by the Mac! If I hadn't seen them earlier in the tour in Greenville, SC I would have given them a full 5 rating. It's only because the Greenville show was so exuberant that I noticed that everyone seemed to be getting a little road worn. They smiled and goofed around as always though... especially during Tusk. That was loads of fun.
Stevie's voice was in excellent form. You can tell the voice lessons are really paying off. She had an especially rich tone last night. She didn't let loose and wail like she did for the Greenville show... but that's understandable. They've done a ton of shows now. The highlight of the evening for me was Stand Back... they really cranked up the volume for that one, and Lindsey just belted his guitar. Stevie really got into this one too. I see the crescent moon necklace has made a return... that really made me smile :-).
Lindsey was also in good form. He has mellowed out very much since earlier in the tour. His vocals are tamer, and in a lower register, and his guitar solos have been brought down a notch too. I'm still baffled why people never fail to sit down during Come. That's a song that brings me to my feet!
John and Mick were in typically good form. I really wish John would step out of the shadows more often. He's got easily the coolest bass playing style in rock. I really wish someone would burn Micks synthesized vest. It was a novelty when it made it's first appearance, but now it's just become obnoxious.
Overall an excellent show. I wouldn't hesitate to go see them a third time!

My first Mac concert after being a fan since the 70's, and the show was absolutely incredible. So much passion in everything they performed. From Mick's opening on Chain to Stevie's bow with Say Goodbye, the band simply knocked us over. Buckingham proved that he has got to be ranked as one of the best guitar players in the business, and the energy he brought to the show was simply explosive. Stevie ranged from a ripping siren call to an elegant sigh... forever one of rock's best vocalist, and a truly magical artist.
I was particularly knocked about by the group's percussion.....Mick Fleetwood, John McVie, and supporting cast, and of course Mick's solo just blew us all away. Songs that particularly stood out in a set that was nothing short of excellent..... The Chain (one of rock's premier opening numbers), I'm So Afraid, Big Love (both with ripping guitar solos), Silver Springs (great vocals), Go Your Own Way, Stand Back, World Turning (very very powerful), Say You Will (Mac IS Back!), Say Goodbye (elegant)....okay, well the whole show was fantastic!
